Message from the President

Dear Fellow Choristers,

I'd like to offer a special welcome to new members of the choir and give a warm welcome back to all returning members.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Past President, Anthony Ward-Smith, for his 5 years of dedication, service and leadership to the Oakville Choral Society. As I take over the Presidency from him, I hope to continue to provide the leadership that has kept the Society a vibrant community choir.

Noteworthy News is our means for keeping you informed of OCS news and events. It serves as a link between your Board of Directors and you. If you have any questions or suggestions about this newsletter, or anything you read in it, please talk to me or to any other member of the Board. Our names are listed elsewhere in the newsletter. If you are a member of another choir or music group and wish to announce your concert / event in Noteworthy News, please contact Jane Carey.

The Oakville Choral Society exists for your benefit and enjoyment and to promote choral singing to anyone in the Oakville area who loves to sing. We are open to experienced singers and beginners, to those who read music and those who do not. If you need assistance with the music, please speak to Bev, our Music Director, Anne-Marie Leonard, our Accompanist or to your section leader.

Our Christmas concert will be on Friday and Saturday December 12th and 13th, with the dress rehearsal on Thursday December 11th. One of the joys of performing is performing in front of a full house – it energizes everyone, from the choir to the audience. Please make every possible effort to sell 10 tickets for each of the Christmas and spring concerts. And please do not wear any scented products at rehearsals or performances.

In closing, I would like to thank all of the volunteers, past and present, who contribute so much to the life of the Society. I wish all of you an excellent year of singing.

Lynda Sturgeoff
