The Oakville Choral Society has been
part of the Oakville community since 1960, and this past season we celebrated our 50th anniversary. The OCS is a
non-profit cultural organization whose aim is the promotion of choral
singing and music appreciation in the community.
The choir is directed by David Bowser, who has a wealth of talent and
experience. This traditionally inspired ensemble has performed to
audiences spanning the generations. The choir has a large repertoire of
the world's best and most loved music including pieces from the masters
of classical to modern day show-tunes and pops. The 70 plus member
strong group possesses a true passion for singing and performing as
well as maintains a strong community interaction by which they do
service to their area culturally.
Performances are held in December and May. The choir is often joined by
professional soloists and a chamber orchestra. Please see our
“Concerts” page for details of our exciting 2011/2012 season.
Rehearsals are held at St. Aidan's Church on Queen Mary Drive in
Oakville. There is a fee to join but all the music is loaned to you
from our library.
More on becoming a member
The choir gratefully acknowledges the awarding of a generous grant from
the Ontario Trillium Foundation. We received this grant so that we
could enhance our community performances, celebrating our 50th
anniversary season.
